Independent and Undenominational
We are an evangelical, indigenous, autonomous local church with a "Brethren Movement" heritage, practising new Testament principles of church gathering.
We are not part of a denominational organisation and hence are not bound to any denominational constitution and are not externally controlled by a denominational hierarchy.
The Church
We meet regularly for the Lord's Supper which He instituted, on the Lord's day, as was the custom of the early disciples and in obedience to the Lord's command "this do in remembrance of Me". (1 Peter 2:5; Heb. 13:15; Eph. 5:19)
Reflecting the church truth that all believers "are baptised into one Body", we recognise that each member, as part of that one Body, is bestowed with one or more functional spiritual gifts to "minister...one to another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God", and we seek to encourage the exercising of such gifts among members for the well-being of the church. (1 Cor. 12:12-13; 1 Peter 4:10-11; 1 Cor. 12:6; Eph. 4:7)
Elders and Deacons
We have, responsible for the church, an oversight, consisting of a number of mature and spiritual men from the church, called elders. They are "appointed by the Holy Spirit" and are so recognised by the church. They "feed the flock" and take "the oversight thereof", collectively. (Acts 20:28; 1 Peter 5:1-3)
We also have deacons who are responsible for helping in the business and spiritual affairs of Church activities. (Acts 6:3; 1 Tim. 3:3-13)
Priesthood of Believers
Recognising the priesthood of believers "to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God by Jesus Christ", we do not have a class of specially ordained "clergy" to officiate at the Lord's Supper. (1 Peter 2:5; Heb. 13:15; Eph. 5:19)
Non-salaried Servants of God (By Faith)
We do not have a salaried one-man pastoral system, though there may be those who have come out to serve the Lord full time and are dependent solely on Him for their support. (1 Cor. 9:17-19)
The Great Commission
Obeying the Lord's Commission to make disciples, we:-
- Evangelise - "preach the gospel"
- Baptise, by immersion, those converted - "baptising them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost"
- Bring them into Church fellowship - "teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you." (Mark 16:15; Rom. 6:3-4; Matt. 28:19; Acts 2:42)
Who We Are
And He put all things under His feet, and gave Him to be head over all things to the church, which is His body, the fullness of Him who fills all in all.
Ephesians 1:22-23
